UNIBEN Postgraduate Application Form

We are excited to invite applications from qualified individuals for admission into a range of postgraduate programs at the University of Benin. These programs lead to the awarding of Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s degrees, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy in various Faculties, Schools, and Institutes.

Application Dates:

• Start Date: July 1, 2024, at 10:00 AM
• Closing Date: August 14, 2024, at 11:59 PM

Admission Requirements:

• To qualify for postgraduate studies at UNIBEN, candidates must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (Ordinary Level), or their equivalents. Alternatively, four credits at the Ordinary Level plus an OND (not a pass), NCE, IJMB, or Advanced Level passes are acceptable.
• Candidates holding a Pass Degree or Diploma are not eligible for admission. Additionally, those with a Third Class degree must possess a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) to be considered for Master’s programs.
• If you hold a Master’s degree with a Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55-59%, you will initially be considered for the M.Phil. program.
• For PhD applications, a minimum WAS of 60% in your Master’s degree is required.
• If you have a Master’s degree from another institution and have not completed equivalent compulsory courses as those offered by UNIBEN, you will need to take and pass these courses with a minimum score of 60% upon admission.
• Only candidates with a valid NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate will be considered for admission into the postgraduate program.

How to Apply:

Please complete your application by midnight on October 30, 2024. Follow these steps to apply:

1. Visit www.uniben.edu or waeup.uniben.edu.
2. On the UNIBEN website, select the Student Portal and then the UNIBEN Waeup Portal.
   • Make sure you have a valid email account before starting the application
3. Click “Register for application” at the top left of the page.
4. Enter all required information, noting that fields marked with * are compulsory.
5. Check your email for a system-generated ID and Password.
6. Open the email to find your login details.
7. Go to waeup.uniben.edu and click “Login” at the top right corner of the page.
8. Enter your username and the password from your email to log in.
9. Begin your application by clicking “Edit application record.” Provide all necessary information and upload your passport photograph.

Entrance Examinations: Shortlisted candidates will be notified and invited for an interview as part of the final selection process for the program.
